Supporting Your District’s AI Journey

Practical, vendor-neutral guidance to help your district develop policies, prepare staff, evaluate tools, and implement AI responsibly.

Overview

The Learning Technology Center (LTC) supports districts at any point in their AI work. That might mean assessing readiness, developing policies and governance, creating a districtwide vision and roadmap, or helping communicate with and train staff, boards, and other stakeholders.

Districts can choose a single service or combine several into a larger engagement. The work also often grows over time—a readiness review one year, board policy the next, followed by tool vetting and staff training as the district’s plans take shape.

Program Services

Every service below can be engaged on its own or combined into a bundle. Districts commonly start with a readiness review or a board briefing and build from there.

Professional Learning & Presentations

AI Workshops & Professional Learning

Professional learning for educators and instructional staff, built around your grade bands, roles, and priorities rather than a generic slide deck.

Includes:

  • Customized workshop agenda aligned to grade band, role, or district priorities
  • Guidance on pedagogical shifts and classroom decision-making
  • Curated take-home resources and reference materials for participants

AI Administrator Academy

Leadership training for principals, district administrators, and instructional leaders responsible for AI-related decisions.

Includes:

  • Leadership-focused training session with defined learning objectives
  • Implementation sequencing framework for district or building-level rollout
  • Planning time resulting in documented next steps and action items for leaders

Board-Level AI Briefing

An executive-level session for boards of education. Focuses on oversight, risk, and strategic considerations rather than tools.

Includes:

  • Executive-level presentation tailored to board oversight responsibilities
  • Overview of AI risks, opportunities, and governance considerations
  • Legal context (SOPPA/FERPA) and ethical considerations

Consulting & Strategy

AI Consulting

Advisory and consulting services supporting districts at any stage of AI adoption—from early exploration to complex, multi-phase implementation. Hourly engagement keeps the door open for districts not yet ready to commit to a larger scope.

Examples:

  • Leadership consultation sessions focused on AI direction, priorities, and decision-making
  • Strategic recommendations summarized for leadership use
  • Coordination notes and documented outcomes from multi-stakeholder meetings

AI Advisory Retainer

Ongoing advisory support for district leadership as AI evolves. Designed for continued guidance beyond initial implementation—when a new tool lands on your desk, a policy needs revisiting, or a message needs to go out to staff and families.

Includes:

  • Scheduled leadership advisory session
  • On-demand review of AI tools, policies, or communications

Governance & Readiness

Most common starting point

AI Readiness & Implementation Review

A comprehensive assessment of your district’s readiness for responsible AI adoption. It gives leadership a clear, actionable snapshot of current capacity and gaps—including the AI use already happening that nobody has formally accounted for. Most districts use this as the factual basis for everything that follows.

Includes:

  • Inventory and analysis of existing AI tools or use cases (if applicable)
  • Staff readiness and skill considerations
  • Governance, compliance, and data privacy risk analysis
  • Written summary outlining findings and recommended next steps

AI Governance, Policy & Implementation Support

Quoted per scope | Included in AI Leadership Bundles

End-to-end support for establishing, adopting, and implementing district AI governance and policy.

Examples:

  • Facilitated governance and policy development sessions
  • Support in drafting AI policy documents and instructional guardrails
  • Support in designing and evaluating limited AI pilots before district-wide rollout

Instructional & Programmatic

Instructional AI Use-Case Vetting

Expert review of proposed instructional AI tools prior to adoption. Send us the tool a vendor is pitching—or the one a teacher is already excited about—and we’ll tell you what we see before the purchase order goes out.

Includes:

  • Review of the proposed instructional AI tool or use case
  • Analysis of pedagogical alignment and instructional impact
  • Equity, accessibility, and responsible-use considerations

Student AI Literacy Program Review

Review of existing student programs for AI literacy alignment. Focuses on readiness, gaps, and instructional coherence across grade levels.

Includes:

  • Review of existing digital citizenship or computer science programs
  • AI literacy gap analysis
  • Recommendations to strengthen student preparedness and coherence

Bundles

For districts that would rather commit to the whole arc than assemble it piece by piece. Bundles combine the readiness review, governance work, roadmap, and board briefing into a single engagement and a single invoice.

Exploration to governance

AI Leadership Bundle

A comprehensive engagement that moves a district from exploration to formal governance and planning. By the end, you have an assessment, an adopted policy direction, a multi-year roadmap, and a board that understands why.

Includes:

  • AI Readiness & Implementation Review
  • AI Governance, Policy & Implementation Support
  • AI Implementation Roadmap (12–36 months)
  • Board-Level AI Briefing
Governance to rollout

AI Leadership Bundle Plus Training

An expanded engagement focused on implementation and sustainability—for districts that need the policy to reach every building, not just the board packet.

Includes:

  • All deliverables from the AI Leadership Bundle
  • Policy implementation training (2 full-day or 4 half-day sessions)
  • Rollout resources for building leaders and staff
