“Ed tech is profitable. It is also mostly useless.”
That provocative headline from The Economist hit close to home for us. We’re educators with a passion for edtech, so we initially balked at such a cut-and-dry assessment of our work.
But as we listened closer, we heard echoes of a sentiment that had been quietly building in schools across Illinois and the country. Everyone from educators and school leaders to parents and researchers have started asking their own questions about technology’s current and future role in education.
So, we decided – let’s hear from them.
One-to-One season 4 is just around the corner, and across this full season, we’re chasing diverse responses to that core question: “is edtech mostly useless?”
We’ll sit down with researchers, lawmakers, parent advocates, and classroom teachers — people with a stake in this debate — to have a conversation about where edtech is working, and where it’s falling short.
Listen in to this season’s preview, and subscribe to be hear our first episode when it drops: an high-level overview of the current edtech discourse, from headlines and Senate testimony to overlaps with emergent anti-screen sentiments.
