Coaching for Teachers, Support for School Leaders

The LTC Instructional Technology Coach Program is a year-long program in which schools gain access to a highly qualified instructional technology coach.

Our coaches are trained team members who work one-on-one and in small groups with teachers to bridge the gap between pedagogy and technology. Their personalized support helps educators achieve integration goals and tackle instructional challenges using technology-based strategies.

Our Program

Our Instructional Technology Coaches work with teachers and school leaders to create and implement a customized coaching plan. Although plans are unique to each district’s needs and priorities, your Coach is consistently focused on helping educators improve their teaching practices and enhance their technology integration – all with the goal of improving student learning.

Many coaching plans include one-on-one coaching cycles, facilitated grade-level team discussions, or large-group professional learning opportunities. Coaches can also support school leaders in identifying teacher needs and creating strategic technology integration plans.

Daily Activities and Support. Daily activities of an instructional technology coach vary depending on the objectives of teachers and school administration. Common classroom goals and challenges that coaches help educators tackle include:

  • Coaching Cycles
  • Informal Coaching
  • Co-Planning
  • Goal Setting
  • Modeling or Co-teaching
  • Observation or Feedback
  • Problem Solving
  • Curriculum Work
  • Resource Development
  • District Planning
  • Data Analysis
  • Small or Large Group Instruction
  • Facilitation of Professional Development
  • Technical Training
  • Individual or Team Meeting

Cost-Sharing between Districts

Our Instructional Technology Coaching program utilizes a specialized cost-sharing model that allows multiple districts in a similar geographic area to share a single coach, who is an LTC employee. Through this shared-service model, small- and medium-sized school districts can access the benefits of coaching without adding staff or committing to a full-time employee.

The LTC can also help you identify federal and local funding sources for building a financially stable coaching program

Customizable Contract Length

Prior to starting the program, participating school districts select the total number of contractual days ranging from 10 to 160.

Annual Recruitment

Each spring, the LTC works with districts to identify needs, sign contracts, and pair districts with an LTC-employed instructional coach.

Additional Benefits

In addition to being paired with an LTC-employed coach, participating school districts:

      • Collaborate with LTC staff to identify priorities and determine services during a kick-off call
      • Receive individual, ongoing support from an assigned instructional coach throughout the year
      • Gain access to the LTC’s online community, professional learning opportunities, and statewide network of edtech experts

Funding Sources

We’ve collected a few federal, state, and philanthropic funding sources that can help make instructional technology coaching a financially-viable professional development option in your district.

The LTC is also an IL-EMPOWER Learning Partner through our fiscal agent, ROE 9, and IL-EMPOWER funds can be used on coaching.

Awards and Accolades

Our coaches and coaching program isn’t just impactful. They’ve also been nationally-recognized for their pioneering approach to supporting educators and robust technology integration.

What is an Instructional Tech Coach?

Instructional technology coaching is ongoing, job-embedded professional learning that is grounded in day-to-day teaching and learning practices. At its core, instructional technology coaching is designed to enhance teachers’ integration of technology, with the long-term goal of improving student learning outcomes.

Instructional technology coaches partner with teachers to provide them with personalized support in meeting their teaching needs. After identifying a classroom challenge to tackle, coaches and teachers closely collaborate to brainstorm solutions, select and implement the best strategies, and reflect on progress.

Meet the Team

Our Instructional Technology Coaches are all certified educators with experience in the classroom. They know what it’s like to stand in a teacher’s shoes, making them uniquely able to connect and collaborate with your teachers.
