Curriculum and Technology Integration Consulting
Curriculum and Technology Integration Consulting
The LTC provides free consulting to all public school districts in Illinois through a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education. We support school districts as they plan, implement, and evaluate all education technology-related initiatives. This can include instructional content, interactions, data and assessment systems, learning platforms, online courses, adaptive software, personal learning enabling technologies, and student data management systems.
Common Consulting Topics
A school makerspace is where students come together to build, tinker, explore, and invent. Makerspaces create lasting meaning, foster innovation, and make a positive impact.
A makerspace is not defined by the tools available or the size of the actual space, but by the pedagogy involved in enabling students to innovate and create. Best practice is to design maker opportunities that align to curriculum, define the objective/intent, but do not confine creativity or choreograph the outcome. The most critical factor in a successful, sustainable school makerspace is implementation of the learning culture and community.
The Learning Technology Center can provide professional learning and advice to schools interested in creating or refreshing makerspaces.
Digital Learning is any learning facilitated by technology that gives students some element of control over time, place, path and/or pace. This can include instructional content, interactions, data and assessment systems, learning platforms, online courses, adaptive software, personal learning enabling technologies, and student data management systems.
Our team of education and technology leaders can help your district adopt, adapt, and integrate digital learning throughout the curriculum.
The Learning Technology Center supports school districts as they work to implement digital literacy and digital citizenship within their schools.
Computing is now a fundamental part of daily life, commerce, and just about every occupation in today’s economy. Computer science is foundational in transforming the way students think about technology and teaches them essential problem-solving skills. Moreover, it puts students on the path toward some of the highest paying, fastest growing jobs in America.
Yet, today fewer than half of schools offer high-quality computer science; further, only about 1 out of 5 students taking AP Computer Science are female, and even fewer are underrepresented students of color.
The Learning Technology Center can connect schools to resources, professional learning, and best practices to develop robust and impactful computer science programs.
