Dr. Marshall has been incorporating media literacy into science education for two decades. She has a master’s degree in Educational Media with a Media Literacy Concentration and a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. She has twenty five years of classroom experience. She firmly believes that media literacy can be a part of any curriculum and can serve to make classrooms more engaging to students.

This session will present current trends of youth media engagement. Then introduce participants to the principles of media literacy. Participants will have an opportunity to practice using these principles to decode media samples. Then participants will be provided with resources to help them create lesson plans specific to their educational context.
