About Matt Carter

Matt Carter (he/him) is a computer science teacher in southern Illinois. He is a graduate of Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois where he received his BS in Elementary Education and Teaching. He is currently working towards his Masters of Arts in Educational Administration and Leadership at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.

He taught for nine years in fourth & fifth grade before becoming a CS teacher. During his time at Pontiac- Wm Holliday District 105 he was a recipient of the Emerson Excellence in Education award. He is also a Google Level 1 and Level 2 Certified Educator, and is working towards his Google Trainer certification. He is an active member in the Computer Science Teachers Association as part of the St Louis area and Central Illinois chapters.

Teaching computer science and computational thinking, as well as STEM at the elementary level is his passion and he hopes to extend his knowledge with other educators to help them meet those needs in their own classrooms.
