Episode Notes

In this episode:

Technology is a powerful tool for transforming learning. Yet, many classrooms still can’t harness its full potential due to lingering divides in technology use, professional training, and access.

How can districts begin to close these gaps? The new National Educational Technology Plan (NETP) offers a roadmap for states, districts, and classrooms interested in establishing institutional solutions, based on proven examples from across the country.

On this month’s episode, Digital Equity Advisor Ji Soo Song, from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology, walks us through the NETP, starting with its origins and continuing through its expected impact on districts and classrooms.

Ji Soo also focuses in on the three Digital Divides—Use, Design, and Access— identified in the report and how more than a thousand people came together to develop this plan, which supports the work that educators do in classrooms every day.
