STEM Learning with Inkscape and Laser Cutting

Tue. March 12, 2024 | 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm CDT

Time to bring some precision to your STEM curriculum with laser cutting, a creative and engaging medium students can utilize to bring computer-generated designs to life. Join us to learn about laser cutting using Universal Laser Systems models, as well as basic laser machine operation and recommendations for selecting a unit for your classroom.

Along the way, you’ll also learn how to create and edit vector graphics using Inkscape, an open source vector graphics program. Inkscape can also be used to create designs for vinyl-based die-cut cutters, such as a Silhouette or Cricut. Used in tandem, Inkscape and a laser cutter can help your students move from ideation to creation in the blink of an eye while gaining direct experience with real-world modeling technology.
