Microsoft has announced an exciting update for educational institutions: a new academic-specific offering for Microsoft 365 Copilot, launching December 2025.

Until now, schools accessing Microsoft 365 Copilot were using the same commercial version priced at $30 per user per month, available only to faculty, staff, and students aged 18+—a structure that left younger learners without access to the tool.

Earlier in summer 2025, Microsoft expanded Copilot Chat availability to students 13 years and older, a big step toward making AI tools more inclusive and accessible in K–12 environments.

Building on that progress, the December 2025 Education offering will officially bring the full Microsoft 365 Copilot experience to students ages 13+. This means more schools will be able to give students AI support that enhances learning, creativity, and productivity—within an offering designed specifically for education.

Pricing

The new Education version of Microsoft 365 Copilot will be available at $18 USD per user per month, offering schools a more affordable path to AI-powered learning tools.

This update marks a major milestone in Microsoft’s ongoing effort to empower educators, students, and staff with safe, age-appropriate AI solutions.
