How AI Makes Decisions (Code.org CS Integration Series)

Thu. February 26, 2026 | 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm CST

AI isn’t magic. From the simplest chatbot to the largest LLM, AI uses machine learning to make decisions – making it an essential ingredient for understanding how AI works.

Want to bring this AI fundamental to your upper elementary or middle school classroom? This interactive session will explore Code.org‘s “How AI Makes Decisions” module, which uses activities to demystify machine learning for grades 3-8.

Educators will explore five engaging lessons and discuss how training data and algorithmic bias can influence AI’s societal impact.

Throughout the training, participants will gain confidence to lead lessons that foster informed digital citizenship using Code.org‘s interactive tools and lesson guidance support. This turnkey curriculum can then be used to seamlessly integrate AI literacy into upper elementary and middle school.
