Join Ryan Wamser and Matt Weld from ROE 40 and the Area 5 SEL Hub to learn what SEL looks like in schools and what current initiatives are available as districts work to strengthen their work in supporting student and staff mental health, resiliency, and equity. We will discuss an online evidence-informed self-assessment that comprises eight key domains of trauma-responsive schools that can be used create an SEL action plan for your school. Learn about the supports your local ROE provide in accomplishing this data collection, action planning, and creating a communities of practice.

Ryan has a Bachelor’s in Physical Education (McKendree University), a Master’s in Education Administration (McKendree University), and a Doctorate in Education (St. Louis University). He’s taught middle school Physical Education, high school drivers education/health, been a high school Assistant Principal, an elementary principal, assistant Regional Superintendent, and a district Superintendent. He is currently the Director of School Improvement for ROE #40 as well as the Director of the Area 5 SEL Hub. Ryan is passionate about helping to support teachers and administrators in any way possible. When not working, Ryan loves spending time with his wife Michelle and their four children.
