While gamification may heighten engagement in the classroom, it is often geared toward more techie teachers and can scare away more traditionalists. Let’s bring gamification to the teachers who like classic games we see on Game Show Network like Password Plus and The Match Game! Classic board games like Life and Battleship can even be brought into the mix! Gamification improves critical thinking skills and engagement while teaching students to persevere and think creatively. The best part is these games can be remixed to fit the needs of teachers across various grade levels and subjects. Students can also take part in the fun by creating their own games that can be used!

Heather is the current math interventionist at East Coloma-Nelson Elementary School where she has worked for the past 9 years, previously as both a first and third-grade teacher. She is has a template featured in "The Canva Classroom" and is looking forward to co-authoring the second book in the near future. She presented in the Playground at ISTE this summer and at EdTechNext in 2021. Heather is a Golden Apple Scholar who is passionate about high engagement and a classroom full of laughter.
