SUMMARY:Managed Detection and Response with LTC & SentinelOne
DESCRIPTION:Cyber threats targeting schools continue to grow\, and many districts are being asked to protect increasingly complex technology environments with limited staff and resources. \nManaged detection and response (MDR) is one way to stay ahead emerging threats – and the LTC is partnering up to make it more accessible to Illinois school districts. \nThe session will begin with a brief overview of the multistate cybersecurity collaboration with SentinelOne\, including how their shared intelligence and coordinated defense strategies help strengthen school’s cyber defenses. \nFrom there\, we’ll focus in on a live demonstration of the SentinelOne security platform and its bundled capabilities available to participating districts. During the demo\, we’ll walk through how districts can use the platform to detect threats\, contain attacks\, monitor vulnerabilities\, and gain visibility across their technology environments. \nWe’ll also review how the managed detection and response services provide 24/7 monitoring and support for district IT teams. \nParticipants will see how the platform works in practice and learn what implementation looks like for Illinois school districts. \nWhat You’ll See \n\nA brief overview of the multistate cybersecurity partnership\nHow SentinelOne detects and automatically responds to threats\nVulnerability management and asset discovery across district devices\n24/7 managed detection and response monitoring\nWhat the bundled offering includes for participating districts\nHow districts can get started\n\nWho Should Attend \n\nTechnology directors\nIT managers and network administrators\nK-12 school district leadership interested in strengthening cybersecurity\n\n\nLearn more about our partnered endpoint security and managed response services →

SUMMARY:Be Connected: Physical Inventory
DESCRIPTION:You cannot protect what you don’t know you have. So grab your inventory list and tune into this week’s Be Connected\, where we’re discussing why a comprehensive physical inventory is a critical security tool\, rather than just an accounting requirement. \nWe will break down what to include beyond the basics—such as end-of-life dates\, physical locations\, and specific server roles—and explore strategies for keeping this “living document” accurate in the face of constant hardware moves and additions. \nJoin us to share your workflows for automating asset tracking and your tips for ensuring the inventory remains a reliable\, real-time resource\, instead of a static spreadsheet that gathers digital dust. \n____ \nBe Connected is a virtual networking series designed to spark meaningful conversations and collaboration within Illinois’ K–12 technology community. \nHosted by the LTC’s Technology Services team\, each free session centers around a different relevant topic\, ranging from infrastructure planning and cybersecurity to emerging tools\, networking strategies\, and day-to-day IT challenges. These informal yet purposeful sessions offer a relaxed and supportive environment where participants can ask questions\, share experiences\, and learn from one another. \nExplore upcoming session topics: https://www.ltcillinois.org/services/beconnected/

SUMMARY:Tech Treks: Building Activities with Nearpod
DESCRIPTION:The Nearpod Library is just the starting point. The real magic happens when you design lessons and activities from your own instructional vision. \nDive back into Nearpod with this exploration of the platform’s core activity building features. If you’ve already launched a few Nearpod lessons and are ready to go beyond pre-made content\, this workshop will help you trek deeper into the Nearpod Lesson Builder. \nIn this hands-on Tech Trek\, your trail guide will show you how to build custom\, high-impact lessons from the ground up by exploring Nearpod’s full range of content and activity types. You’ll learn how to intentionally layer interactive features—like VR Field Trips\, PhET Simulations\, Time to Climb\, and Drag & Drop—so every slide supports a clear learning goal and keeps students actively engaged. \n💡 What You’ll Experience: \n\nExplore Nearpod’s 20+ content and activity types and learn when (and why) to use each one\nBuild a multi-modal lesson from scratch that blends instruction\, interaction\, and formative assessment\nDesign engaging learning moments using tools like VR Field Trips\, simulations\, and game-based activities\nApply best practices for lesson pacing and real-time data collection to inform instructional decisions on the fly\n\nThis isn’t a sit-and-watch session. You’ll actively design\, build\, and refine a Nearpod lesson in real time. You’ll leave with a starting point for a lesson that you’ve created from the ground up. \nWe recommend using two devices for this webinar: one to view the session and another (like a laptop or tablet) to explore Nearpod as you go. \nIllinois educators who register here and attend live through Zoom can earn 1.0 PD credit.

SUMMARY:Be Connected: Penetration Testing
DESCRIPTION:How far could an outside threat actor infiltrate your district’s networks? And what if that same threat is coming from within one of your schools? \nEither way\, penetration testing remains as important as ever. Tune in as we explore why a truly resilient defense requires both external perimeter testing (to block outside intruders) and internal testing (to simulate what happens after a credential is lost or a device is compromised). \nAt the same time\, we’ll focus in on the “day after” report: how to prioritize remediation steps and use your findings to prove to your school board that security funding is an investment\, not just a cost. Along those lines\, we’ll also break down the 2026 budget realities for these dual-layered audits and discuss how to schedule them effectively around your district’s busiest cycles.
