SUMMARY:AI Playbook: Crafting Guidelines and Policy for Staff and Students
DESCRIPTION:As AI becomes a key player in education\, establishing clear policies and guidelines is essential for responsible use in schools. This workshop provides school/district leaders with practical tips and resources to create tailored AI policies that align with district goals\, as well as built-in work time to begin collaborating and crafting district-specific plans. Participants will leave with a roadmap for crafting AI policies that can be tailored to their school district’s needs\, as well as resources and examples to continue to guide their development process. To maximize work and collaboration time during the workshop\, participants are encouraged to bring a small team from their district. However\, the workshop will still be valuable for individual attendees!

SUMMARY:AA 4054: Designing a Comprehensive CS Program for School Leaders
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this academy is to help administrators successfully meet the computer science mandates outlined in Illinois legislation by following research-informed practices for creating an implementation plan. These plans will guide them to create sustainable computer science programs that help students learn the computer science and computer literacy skills necessary to be successful in an increasingly technological world. \nParticipants will know/be able to: \n\nExamine key concept areas of computer science as a content area\, using technical terminology when appropriate\nInvestigate the differences between computer science and computer literacy\nDetermine the relevance a computer science education has to long-term student success\nEvaluate their resource availability and compare it to the version they have for their computer science program\nCreate their own computer science implementation plan\n\nTo achieve these outcomes\, participants must review their current school plan and budget before the session. On the day of the session\, participants must bring a laptop\, their school strategic plans\, current and next year’s budget\, a list of technology available in the building\, a list of the courses offered\, a list of their teachers’ endorsements\, and any other information on short- and long-term school and computer science goals. \n— \nRegistration for this event closes June 19\, 2025. \nBreakfast and lunch will be provided to event attendees. \nThis event is being hosted in conjunction with CS + AI PD Week. Participants are also invited to participate in the CS + AI PD Week social from 6:00-8:00 PM at Ingrained Brewing (Springfield\, IL).

SUMMARY:Segment Like You Mean It: Stitching Zero Trust into Data‑Center Fabrics
DESCRIPTION:Modern VXLAN‑based fabrics make plug‑and‑play networking a reality\, but even the smartest weave still needs security stitches to block lateral movement. That’s where microsegmentation steps in\, especially when traffic spans data‑center\, cloud\, and OT domains. \nIn this brisk session\, SHI architects trim the jargon and hand you a practical game plan: \nWhere fabric automation ends and segmentation begins\nThree deployment patterns: network‑based\, agent‑based\, and agentless—and the sweet spot for each\nCommon snags that can unravel Zero‑Trust projects before the first policy is enforced\nThere’s no one‑size‑fits‑all formula\, but there is a structured way to choose what fits you. Treat this as your kickoff\, not the full playbook. You’ll walk away with a clear starting point and an invitation to a follow‑up workshop where SHI experts tailor the right segmentation strategy for your environment. \nRegister today!
