SUMMARY:Drones for High Flying Creativity and Computer Science
DESCRIPTION:Take learning to new heights with drones! You’ll complete a series of missions with your CoDrone EDU to learn how to fly safely and confidently\, program it for autonomous flights\, and complete authentic tasks that simulate real world use. We’ll demonstrate how drones are used in a variety of careers as we combine coding and flying into a day of fun and learning. We’ll also demonstrate more advanced drones and their value to creative photography and videography projects that truly put the A in STEAM education. Along the way we’ll explore drones in careers\, FAA safety rules and regulations\, the pilot certification process\, curriculum options\, and purchase decisions. You’ll walk away with a solid understanding of drones and how to incorporate them into your STEM\, CS\, or Multimedia Arts program. Your cost of registration covers a CoDrone EDU that you get to take back to your school. Please bring a laptop\, your cell phone\, and either a charging block or any device with a USB port for charging your drone’s batteries.

SUMMARY:1 in 5 Students Struggle with Reading
DESCRIPTION:Across classrooms nationwide\, 1 in 5 students struggle to learn to read despite strong instruction and effort. Teachers often see the signs first—slow decoding\, poor retention\, attention challenges—but the why is rarely explained. \nThis short\, practical webinar explores the cognitive foundations of literacy and how schools can better support students with dyslexia\, ADHD profiles\, and persistent reading difficulties—without adding burden to teachers. \nWhat You’ll Learn: \n\nWhy some students plateau despite good instruction\nThe cognitive skills that underpin reading success\nHow dyslexia and attention challenges show up in real classrooms\nWhat evidence-based literacy intervention looks like in practice\nHow schools are supporting small groups and seeing measurable gains\n\n— \nPartner Webinar: This webinar is hosted in partnership with Neuralign USA\, an ILTPP Vendor Partner. \nLearn more about how our partnerships expand educators’ access to quality professional learning →

SUMMARY:Be Connected: IT Certifications
DESCRIPTION:Certifications – they don’t just look good on your resume. They also help enhance your district’s capacity to embrace and implement innovative technology strategies. \nSo\, should your district pick up the tab for your certifications? We’ll discuss that and more on this week’s Be Connected\, where we’ll explore the strategic value of IT certifications in the K-12 space – especially moving beyond simple resume padding to professional development that actually impacts district operations. \nWe’ll compare the foundational “big three” paths—CompTIA for vendor-neutral security\, Cisco for network infrastructure\, and Microsoft/Google for cloud ecosystem mastery—while also highlighting education-specific credentials like the CETL (Certified Education Technology Leader). \nJoin us to share your thoughts on districts financially supporting tech certifications and how to prioritize high-value certs like the CISSP or Security+ in your 2026 budget. \n____ \nBe Connected is a virtual networking series designed to spark meaningful conversations and collaboration within Illinois’ K–12 technology community. \nHosted by the LTC’s Technology Services team\, each free session centers around a different relevant topic\, ranging from infrastructure planning and cybersecurity to emerging tools\, networking strategies\, and day-to-day IT challenges. These informal yet purposeful sessions offer a relaxed and supportive environment where participants can ask questions\, share experiences\, and learn from one another. \nExplore upcoming session topics: https://www.ltcillinois.org/services/beconnected/
