It’s time to pick up that controller and press “start” on your district’s esports program! But what can you do if you’re starting from level 1?
Join us for this workshop, which will introduce you to the burgeoning world of esports and give you the solid foundation needed to start a program at your school. Along the way, you’ll learn why esports are beneficial to students, how to get your club or team started, and how an esports coach can be successful (even without heavy gaming experience). We’ll also provide demonstrations of some of today’s most popular esports games as well as connect you with model schools that already have flourishing esports programs in place.
Then, get ready to Craft, Learn, and Play the rest of the day as we sink our pickaxes into Minecraft Education Edition (EE). Minecraft EE has numerous learning-based applications, with collaborative functionality, downloadable world templates, and built-in projects and challenges that can integrate into any content area during the school day. This widely-available game also has plenty of standalone content to offer an after-school program or club, including the ability to code mods and export in-game objects for 3D printing.
