From your thermostat to your lights to your vacuum cleaner, smart devices are all around us. While it might feel like robots are taking over, the truth is that behind every robot, there’s a programmed set of instructions coded by a real human. Show your students how easily they can get into this world of robotics and coding by exploring our robot playground!
In this unique, hands-on session, attendees can explore a variety of robotics options designed for the K–12 classroom, including:-micro:bits– Sphero– Makey Makey– Dash and Dot– Ozobot– VEX– and more!
During this workshop, we’ll also explore what lies ahead for computer science learning and careers. After taking a peek at several emerging technologies, we’ll focus in on the new Illinois Computer Science Standards, including methods for aligning the tools you tried in this workshop with a new or existing computer science curriculum. You’ll walk away with hands-on experience, links to curriculum, and ideas for implementation specific to your grade level.
All attendees must bring a laptop or Chromebook to fully participate this session.
