Creating an Inclusive and Diverse Space with Classroom Media Content

Tue. October 3, 2023 | 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm CDT

Research shows visual media’s strong impact on children’s perceptions and behaviors. Every visual (at school and at home) sends a message, so classroom visuals should be chosen with intentionality, purpose, and a focus on creating a productive and inclusive learning space.

Join as we peer deeper into classroom visuals, including research and best practices that can help educators center key student attributes – including race, ethnicity, gender, religion, body type, and ability – in their classroom. While this presentation will mainly focus on elementary classrooms, educators at all levels can tune in and discover how they can visually shape their learning environments to help students form a deeper sense of self-identity.

Illinois educators who register here and attend live through Streamyard can earn 1.0 PD credit..
