AI for Educators Book Study (Section 1)
Mon. June 5, 2023 | 8:00 am - Mon. July 3, 2023 | 5:00 pm CDT
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a growing topic of conversation, especially among educators. Does AI offer educators a unique opportunity to revolutionize their classroom activities, or does it spell the end of education as we know it? (Or more likely, a little of both?)
Let’s explore the potential challenges and opportunities of AI in the classroom while reading and discussing Matt Miller’s newest book, “AI for Educators”. This contemporary look at the state of AI offers educators a peak into AI’s progress up to this point, the ethics of integrating AI into education, and strategies for preparing every classroom for the continued evolution of AI-powered edtech.
This 4-week summer book study will provide educators an opportunity to examine some of the ideas explored in this book and discuss ways strategies for adapting K-12 classroom to meet the imperatives of AI-supported education. Over the course of the study, participants will take part in 4 synchronous video meetings and 4 asynchronous discussion activities (via Canvas) to deepen their understanding of the reading and support integration prior to the upcoming school year. Finally, this book study will wrap up with a brief reflection of each participant’s personal learning journey, offering a jumping-off point for further learning on this timely topic.
